RIDBC Vision ED

A challenging playground design for vision impaired children for the Royal Institute of Deaf and Blind Children at North Rocks. The site was originally very steep and almost unusable. By importing hundreds of tonnes of fill we managed to create a series of terraces and pathways leading to different spaces and different experiences. We used water features, sound poles and a fog sculpture to create wayfinding points. Kick boards on paths with densely planted borders make traversing the site easy for vision impaired children.
